Introduction to Pitching
The UnderGlass Productions pitching process is a fairly lengthy one, with multiple rounds of deliberation, creative development and feedback. There is no set timeline for the pitching process to take. This enables productions to have a fully fledged creative plan before production/pre-production begins. This allows us to create a smooth production process with high levels of creativity whilst also ensuring the production fits within UnderGlass’ values.
What can you pitch?
UnderGlass Productions is a film and theatre company that focuses on producing a wide variety of creative projects.
Within the film sphere you are able to pitch:
- Original scripts: Scripts that have been written yourself
- Unwritten script ideas: Ideas for a story/narrative that you have thought of but have not (yet) written or that you do not want to write the script for.
- Scripts/stories that are out of copyright.
Within the theatre sphere you are able to pitch:
- Original scripts: Scripts that have been written yourself
- Unwritten script ideas: Ideas for a story/narrative that you have thought of but have not written or that you do not want to write the script for.
- Scripts that are out of copyright: Scripts that have not had their copyright renewed, are in the public domain or it has been at least 70 years since the original writer’s death.
- Scripts that are in copyright: Plays that we are able to pay the copyright for in order to put on our own performances.
What are we looking for?
Whilst the lengthy pitch process can seem daunting, UnderGlass is open to any proposal from all different genres and kinds of film and theatre!
As a company we want to focus on projects that engage with audiences in unique ways. More specifically, we want to create pieces that use/are:
- Original voices
- Romanticised realism
- Social commentary
- Magical realism
Pieces should be unapologetic in nature, engaging with their topics in thoughtful and intriguing ways.
Whilst we would like to create theatre pieces that are of pre-written scripts, we highly encourage applicants to pitch original theatre and film scripts that facilitate the making of highly creative and original productions.
